Alexandra Gorev

Alexandra is a contemporary oil painter working in a neo-surrealist style, known for emotionally immersive works that blend classical technique with symbolic, dreamlike narratives. Her paintings explore the liminal space between perception and truth—where memory distorts into myth, and personal emotion gives rise to entire imagined worlds.

Her work often centers on archetypal figures—girls, feminine forms, and spectral presences—set within ecosystems shaped by emotional intensity and surreal symbolism. Through this lens, her paintings offer quiet critiques of inherited trauma, social tension, and the mirage of control, creating an intimate yet mythic exploration of the inner world.

Alexandra continues to develop her practice through exhibitions, studio research, and a deep engagement with the emotional and symbolic potential of classical oil painting.

About

A traditional oil painter working in the style of neo-surrealism, exploring the borders between perception and truth—especially as filtered through systems of power, childhood, and the subconscious.

The paintings are deeply influenced by the Japanese concept of ayashii, which describes a mysterious blend of the eerie and the beautiful. They often externalize internal states such as grief, longing, and anxiety, depicting them as immersive environments—symbolic ecosystems where personal history, social critique, and myth converge. Within their landscapes they often carry subtle reflections on the illusions we construct to maintain control.
